A good tale gone sour, the story begins with a group of friends Sridhar (Harshavardhan), Chandana (Haripriya), Nandini (Aditi), Mahesh (Trinetrudu), Bhakti (Bhakti), Jessica (Eva), Kishore, Scud. They are friends from school and do their college together as well. Once they pass out, they have their own set of goals. On the personal front, Sri- Chandana are a pair who don't express their love, Bhakti-Mahesh are a pair with unexpressed love, Nandini -Kishore is a pair which has expressed love and wants to get married but parental problem is there. Jessica wants to be a big fashion designer. What happens to each relationship and who ends up with what forms the rest of the story.

The director has attempted to show the problems of youngsters and tackling them in a humorous manner. Though the presentation was good, the narrative was a letdown. Background score was effective and songs were good. Cinematography was above average. Editing was required at key places. costumes and art department made their presence felt. Harshavardhan was good for a debut, Haripriya was the show stealer, Aditi was okay, Bhakti was nice, Trinetrudu was convincing, Scud made his presence felt, Eva's character was not etched well. M S Narayana gave some relief, Cochin Haneefa was decent, Waheeda was hot, Siva Prasad was excellent, Samrat was adequate. The others did their bit as required.

The film suffers mainly due to the weak direction and the inability of the director to streamline the scenes and maintain a voltage. While the opening was okay, the film starts peeling off in few minutes and it starts working well in bits and pieces. The second half gets a bit of momentum but it is not sustained throughout. The production values are high and the technical aspects were scorable but it is due to the content and its narration, the film has taken a blow. Its fate lies entirely on word of mouth.
As the promos and the trailers show, the movie is about a group of 8 youngsters, including one foreigner who comes to India on a student exchange programme. The characters are introduced one at a time by Nagarjuna who jogs along with them in a park (And Nag’s playing a guest role and so is Anuskha who comes for a jify).

All are friends right from college (or even school, which confuses the audience because of the uniforms in the flashback but eventually you indulge yourself in the movie, and you start assuming things) and they share quite a bond among themselves.

The lead hero of the movie is Harsha Vardhan as Sridhar aka Sri and the heroine is Haripriya as Chandana alias Chandu. The others in the gang are Scut, Andal alias Nandini, Mahesh, Kishore, Jessica and Bhakthi.

So after the introductions, the life of the individuals is shown and how all their lives are interwoven is explained, in a rather dragging way which could have been trimmed by Editor Marthand K Venkatesh and explained a little more pleasingly by the director.

The friends have been together even after finishing their education. The movie starts at a place where they are in search of jobs and starting a career. And the usual love stories among the members of the gang are neatly included. The main twist of the movie is here: Sri loves Chandana but doesn’t tell it to her till he lands himself in a job. So one fine day when he gets one, he rushes to propose Chandana but here he receives a reception to the contrary. He is not welcomed because of a drunken act that results in Chandana hating him. What is that act? Why does Chandana hate Sri? Answers at your nearest cinema.

All the fresh faces have done a decent job. Considering the point that they are new comers you can’t complaint about their lip sync and only a couple of them are Telugu speaking people. Supporting actors like Cochin Hanefa, Sana and the others have done their part well. Bhumika as a teacher does her job with finesse.

The strength of the movie is the music by Bobo Shashi. Music is classy. The background score is impressive and sustains the interest of the audience. The picturing of songs especially ‘Ishq Hai Yeh’ and ‘Mila Milala’ are beautiful and leading cinematographer Senthil has done a commendable job.

Dialogues by Prasad are not really cinematic and they go along with the script. They evoke giggles at times and a few scenes demand emotional dialogues which have been penned well. Talking about giggles, comedy in the movie is prevalent most of the time. MS Narayana’s comedy track and a few comic scenes among the friends especially lights on Scut, will make you laugh with out a doubt.

Director Sreehari Nanu has tried to include too many ingredients in his dish. If he would have tried to adopt a formula, the movie would have got to pinnacle but flaws are bound to happen and he can be forgiven for it. The screenplay of the movie before the interval is a little slow and post interval, the movie has so much to offer but if you can sit through that, the movie is a pleasure to watch.

‘Thakita Thakita’ is a message oriented movie. It talks about life. The director has used the Rubik’s cube as an object to explain the perils of life and in the process he has tried his best to convey it to the audience. The movie is impressive in parts and those parts are good enough for a watch in the theatre.

Thakitha Thakitha Movie Review:

Yoga Guru Bharath Thakur and actor Bhumika Chawla left their safety zones to produce a movie they believe in. Srihari Nanu, after a bad start with ‘Satyabhama’, is trying to make a mark again. Eight new faces are looking for a head start to their careers in Telugu cinema. ‘Thakita Thakita’ has so many hearts wondering if they all will dance their way into Telugu cinema audiences’ hearts. 123telugu.com takes a look.

What’s it about: Nandini, Kishore, Mahesh, Scud, Bhakti, Jessica, Chandana and Sridhar are all friends from school. They all finish their final year exams, and try their level best to kick start their careers while they face some interesting situations in life.

Nandini and her senior Kishore are in love. But Nandini’s father hardly understands his kid's yearning for some lost prestige. Mahesh and Scud haven’t been on talking terms since years. Bhakti is a happy go lucky girl, or so it seems. Jessica, a foreign student, is trying to make it big in fashion in India, living as a guest with rich Chandana. Sridhar is in love with Chandana but doesn’t want to express it to her before he settles down in life. And then there is Dakshayini, who is bent on stealing Sridhar from Chandana.

The film covers the coming of age of all these friends, as they try to solve a Rubik’s cube called life! It also covers lot of issues like acid attacks on girls, suicides, misunderstandings, false prestige and so on.

What is Good: Haripriya, who plays the role of Chandana did an excellent job. She is the only one who has previous experience in acting (she acted in one or two Kannada films) and she will get more offers her way! Everything about her eyes, expressions and body language are spot on.

Harshavardhan, who plays Sridhar, did try his best, and will surely improve. Almost all other characters have a defined individuality. The attempt to bring in cases of suicides, acid attacks, and change should be appreciated.

The girls Bhakti (Bhakti), Aditi (Nandini), and Eva (Jessica) look chick. Bhumika Chawla looks like she has just walked out of the sets of ‘Yuvakudu’ or ‘Khushi’. She doesn’t seem to get aged at all! The music and cinematography make a steady impact.

What is bad: The first half is dedicated only to establish the characters and their ambitions. Very soon too much of importance is given to only one pair, while the rest become sidekicks. The entire ‘Bangalore flashback’ works only to pull the audiences back to the seats in the second half. Jessica’s character is half cooked, and so is Dakshayini’s! However the film gets some movement with the flashback episode, when Bhumika Chawla is around.

The story deals with lot of issues, sometimes going overboard with the ‘giving lessons’ part. By the time almost all characters reach their happy endings, we are bored with what’s happening!

Technical Departments: : Songs compositions by Bobo Shashi are wonderful. His songs aided by K.K.Senthil’s excellent work keep the audiences entertained at regular intervals. Kona Venkat’s dialogues are fine, but they don’t necessarily impress all the time. Marthand’s editing wavers from being jerky to excellent. The biggest problem however is with the screenplay, which never clearly defines the film’s USP.

Final Point: The director doesn’t just use Rubik’s cube as a plot tool, but also uses special guest roles by Nagarjuna and Anushka for the same purposes. Connecting emotionally with anyone of the lead characters and understanding their problems could have been more involving. Looking at all the stories as an outsider limits the audiences’ perspective. The destiny of ‘Thakita Thakita’ depends on whether the audiences will like to be the outsiders watching the film or rather stay outside the theater. Super Good Movie
Thakita Thakita movie is about 8 college going youngsters aspiring to build their careers - Nandini, Kishore, Mahesh, Scud, Bhakti, Jessica, Chandana and Sridhar.

Nandini and Kishore fell in love, but Nandini’s parents are against their love, while Scud and Kishore don not talk to each other since 5 years. Jessica is a foreign student interested in fashion and Sridhar loves Chandana, but never express. These youngsters face several hurdles in the process of fostering their career. And the plot unveils when how they try and resolve them

Bhumika Chawla and Bharat Thakur might have spend a lot on promoting the movie, but looks like their efforts are gone in vain as Thakita Thakita tumbles at the box office. Once again ascribe it to poor narration, weak screenplay and lack of proper story. Director Srihari Nanu has gone wrong completely by not choosing a proper story and getting the best out from the characters.

This movie is an attempt to show all the contemporary sensitive issues like lovers suicide, acid attacks on girls, etc, but they were not been able to showcase properly. Those scenes lack emotion and look dramatized rather.

Time and again, we’ve been discussing about young directors foraying into Telugu cinema industry - once again we accentuate on the maturity levels of the director. He needs to be a visionary and may be Thakita Thakita director Srihari Nanu needs to undergo a crash course once again in direction.

Thakita Thakita lacks flavor, which is the most important thing for a youthful entertainer. The director did not view through rose-tinted glasses and could not glorify the college days – in fact many scenes have resembled ‘Happy Days’. The crucial flash back episode, which has a build up to the end, did not come out well as it lacked the required trigger.

The first half once again has gone only for establishing the identities of the characters and their career goals – mind you there are 8. The story was revolving only on Sridhar and Chandana pair overlooking the remaining. And the second half just keeps running while we wait for the movie to be finished

Sridhar has done reasonably well. Looks like hero Shivaji has dubbed for Sridhar. This man has good potential, but he need to work a lot on expressions.

Chandana looks beautiful, but she has to improve on emotional scenes.

Kishore does not have any dialogue and cannot understand why he was casted. Scud has done alright and Mahesh is adequate.

Jessica’s character is ludicrous. Bhumika Chawla and Anushka play a cameo while Nagarjuna comes initially as a narrator.

Finally, Thakita Thakita movie lacks conviction and there’s a lot of miscasting. It is not connecting although the movie has some practicalities. The story isn’t neither new-fangled nor fascinating and the director failed to narrate at least a poor track into a good cinematic one.

Behind the Movie Thakita Thakita: Beautiful actress Bhumika Chawla and her husband Bharath Thakur produced this youthful entertainer on Downtown Films. With all new casting and debutant director Srihari Nanu leading from the front; it was Bobo Sasi whose music has already generated good magic. Let us see, what was this Bhumika’s ‘Thakita Thakita’ is all about?

In the Movie Thakita Thakita: Sri, Mahesh, Kishore and Skud (Harshavardhan, Trinetrudu, S. Karthik and K. Ananth) are friends studying in same school. This boys group also has girl counterparts who are Chandana, Nandini, Bhakti and Jessica (Haripriya, Aditi Chengappa, Bhakti Punjani and Eva Ellis). Now, the point is that they go through different phases of their school life; each of them learning a lesson with time.

If Sri and Chandana are in love from the very first day of their school; still there is a strong reason which keeps them separated supported by a suicide incident at their school. Finally both of them grow with age and win their love after understanding their responsibilities.

Mahesh, an orphan feels the warmth of love and affection in the company of Bhakti and is indirectly helped by Skud in winning her love. Even there is a misunderstanding between Skud and Mahesh which is attached to the friendship thread of story.

Kishore is senior to Nandini and loves her from three years after joining the school. Finally when Nandini doesn’t accept Kishore’s love, teacher Vaishnavi (Bhumika) comes into picture making Kishore realize the real meaning of love. Now, both of them are married and Nandini is pregnant.

Jessica is a fashion designer who reaches her goal while Skud has no significant ambitions. In final, how lives of all these students end up as grown individuals with time leaving their school life is the entire story in crux.

Values of the Movie Thakita Thakita: Again, this is one more routine youthful school (college) story but attempted in a different format of screenplay. Story by Kona Venkat and Srihari Nanu revolves around those regular college backdrops but touched on a new point of how to learn from mistakes that we make in life. Screenplay was tried differently which leaves an impact on the audience. Dialogues by BVS Ravi and Kona Venkat were good enough. Direction was amateurish making the movie look without a soul or feel. Music by Bobo Sasi was good work while Senthil Kumar’s cinematography made the movie to look like a portrait. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh was even very weak. What that stands top in entire ‘Thakita Thakita’ is production values of Bhumika and Bharath Thakur. Their uncompromised attitude in bringing out a quality product was visible in all the frames.

Performance wise, entire casting was new and fresh. Among the troop, Haripriya has really got a good body and sensual acting skills which makes her the best pick. Even Harshavardhan was good in dancing skills and both these artists are to be looked after in near future. Remaining others were okay. Anushka’s special appearance has no connection to the story while Nagarjuna’s entry with first frame of the movie and his voice over helped in imparting the message that was intended by director. Bhumika as teacher looked still young and gorgeous.

Out of the Movie Thakita Thakita: If innovativeness is what that is to be thought from this attempt, Thakita Thakita is the one to give a shot. Indepth study of characterization would have definetely touched the hearts of the audience. Lack of emotions, comedy & punch dailogues were missing to join this movie to the commerical track. Predicatble climax made the audience upset about the movie

Best output of songs and thanks to both Bobo and Senthil for their good work. Although, movie has tag line of ‘Love, Laugh and Tears;’ first two were dealt insensitively while the third was automatically generated in the audience sitting for two and hours in theatre. Selection of new cast brought freshness on the screen.

Heroine Haripriya, Harshavardhan, Bhumika, good music, smart cinematography, extra ordinary production values were considered positives.

Thakita Thakita is Bhumika and Bharath’s novel attempt.
